Colouring Book
Rop van Mierlo is known for his wet-on-wet painting style, which leads to amorphous, fuzzy shapes. But through his skilful application, these vibrantly colourful blobs are still recognisable as various animals.
This Colouring Book, however, takes a different approach. Here, Van Mierlo uses strictly black paint to produce his signature images of animals such as a snail, dolphins, frogs, bears, seahorses, and even a tarantula, leaving you – in true colouring book fashion – to imagine and add the colours yourself.
At Misc Store we also carry Rop van Mierlo's book calendar and postcard sets from the same series.

Rop van Mierlo, known for his wet-on-wet painting style, created a series of animals inspired by the idea of how people try to tame the world in any way they can. While searching for a way to illustrate these animals, he started thinking: "if I would draw a wild animal, I'd be trying to capture it in lines, but that's just another way to control and tame it."
