Notebook A6 Double Arm Faded Black

Postalco's Notebook A6 Double Arm Faded Black was made to celebrate the publication of Viewpoint in the Fog and features the double-arm drawing from the book’s cover.

First introduced in 2004, Postalco’s ring-bound design has become a classic: it opens fully and lies flat on your desk, making it effortless to write anywhere on the page. More than just paper, it’s a tool for thinking — by writing down one thought, you clear space for the next. Ideas naturally connect, overlap, and grow, often in ways you don’t expect. What you jot down today may be the seed for something entirely new tomorrow.

We love to use this Postalco Notebook A5 Pingraph in a landscape position, flipping over the pages.

Also available at Misc Store in a range of other colors.

Postalco’s signature: 1mm pingraph paper

Made in Japan and features a cotton pressed cover, 1mm pin-graph paper, a spiral ring and crisp clean cut edges. Adorned with Postalco’s carrier pigeon, we think their notebooks are one of the smartest around.

Postalco uses Starch-pressed cotton, which is bound to the cover. With time and use, the colours will lighten and the weave of the fabric will become more and more apparent. The pressed cotton fabric is treated to be water-resistant.

A nice detail is the positioning of the spiral ring. Instead of spiralling the paper at the edge of the paper, Postalco had it positioned just off the edge, on the top cover. This allows you to tuck away your notebook between your books in a book case in a classy way, with the spiral ring covered. It also allows you to write something on the spine.

The corners of the paper are cut in a 45 degrees angle. Besides the graphic element, it eases flipping over to the next page. The paper itself has a 1mm pingraph paper, with the grid printed in a blue hue. The colour of the paper is almost soothing to the eyes, and serves as a very nice background for whatever scribbles or handwriting you fill this sheet with. The grid makes it perfect to have a little more guidance to draw straight lines. Yet, as the grid is this tiny, the paper easily presents itself as a blank sheet, without the boundaries that grid or lined paper may have.

You detect something of a quest for perfection in Postalco’s work. A sliver of imagination that sticks itself into something not quite good enough and prises it open, revealing new territories within.

Postalco products are often materially dependant, reflecting a precise history of the leather, brass, cotton and fabric with which they were made. We were drawn to these objects from the moment we saw them. From the moment we began stocking Postalco in 2010, we found their work special — touching in its desire for longevity and engaging in its aesthetic sensibility.

We’re a proud stockist of Postalco, and we have been carrying their products since we first opened Misc Store in Amsterdam. If you’re in the Netherlands, come and visit our store in to get a feel for these supremely tactile objects.
